The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.
Psalm 104:18 KJV
Those that are God’s sheep have “the hill of the LORD” for their place of refuge (Psalm 24:3). To stand on this hill is akin to standing on “The Rock”. But the goats and conies seek refuge in their hills, their rocks.
Consider one of the things that happened when Christ was on the cross:
And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
Matthew 27:51 KJV
We all appreciate that the vail being torn was very significant in that it spoke of the removal of that which stood between us and God.. flesh (Heb 10:20). So to, the ‘rocks rent’ is also very significant. The ungodly (goats and conies) can no longer hide behind “rocks”. The truth of God revealed in Christ has left all men without excuse.
If we are in darkness it’s cause we have chosen to hide behind lies (rocks), rather than stand on the Rock of truth. If we receive his sacrifice ✝️ it will remove the vail and give us access to God and it will rent the rocks i.e. shatter the lies we previously lived by. Selah!
