Psalm 103:15 – Let the scriptures speak for themselves

As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

Psalm 103:15

Scripture interprets scripture. But without the right key, no matter how much we read, we won’t understand certain scriptures, though we may think we do.

Consider this:

[6] The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: [7] The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.

Isaiah 40:6-7 KJV

Isaiah 40:6 says …All flesh is grass….
and in verse 7 …surely the people is grass…

The ‘life of man’ / ‘people’ / ‘flesh’ = grass

The ‘life of man’ / ‘people’ / ‘flesh’ = flower of the field.

This is an interpretive key and with this key, we can unlock various scriptures where grass/flower of the field are used.

Zechariah 10:1 KJV ….so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.

By virtue of the keys, we know that God was promising to rain upon the life of men/flesh. To see what he was going to rain on them (on man), and how he would do this, we need more keys.

Psalm 104:14 Spirit Food

What would be rained on flesh and how would it be done?

[10] For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: [11] So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Isaiah 55:10-11 KJV

The rain is the Word of God (Jesus).

The clouds are people (Heb 12:1).

[1] Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Hebrews 12:1 KJV

God is therefore telling us, that he was going to pour out himself (rain/Word of God) upon all flesh (grass), and he was going to do so through people who are filled with (His) light. In other words, he was going to do so through bright clouds i.e. people who are filled with knowledge of him.

If you are a bright cloud (someone who lives for Jesus) and didn’t know your purpose, hear now the word of the LORD.

Rain falls upon the grass. If you are grass, you need rain and light. You need his word and the knowledge of him.
