Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.
Psalm 104:20 KJV
“The beast of the forest” is a scriptural reference to men who abide in darkness. And here we have God saying that he made the darkness that they abide in. He said the same here:
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Isaiah 45:7 KJV
But, why would God create darkness? One word… Love. He loved us enough that he gave us the option, the choice to be able to reject him. If God didn’t love, we would not have “free choice”.
If we don’t want to walk in light/day, there’s darkness/night, if we reject love, we embrace hate, if we turn away from peace, we’re turning to strife, if we hate life, then we love death….
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
Genesis 1:4 KJV
The light was good, and God divided it…. separated it from the darkness. He wants us to be separated from darkness unto him and in Jesus, he died on the cross to make this possible. When we receive Christ, we are no longer children of the night/darkness, for through him, we are children of the Day.
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
1 Thessalonians 5:5 KJV
He loved us enough to die for us, but that same love allows us the freedom to reject him.. we decide where we want to abide.. Light & Life or Darkness & Death! Eat of his tree, follow him and live, or eat of the other tree, decide for ourselves what is good and what is evil and thus go the way of death. I pray that you would chose him and live.
This was an easy read; didn’t expect to see it under Daily Bread- even so- the very distinct placement of night and day / light and darkness on the choices we make— is necessary.
It was placed under daily word cause it was done as a daily share 🙂
I read it several times before sharing and realized that this is perhaps the share to cap off why create the darkness series. Given your observation aligns with mine, perhaps I’ll have to relook the categorization from daily to darkness, or maybe both.
