Bible often mentions that we inherit everlasting life through Christ’s death on the cross (Matt 19:29, Eph 1:10-11). We are heirs of the kingdom/life: (James 2:5).
An heir, is the one who inherits a thing from the deceased. The deceased is Christ, through his death on the cross, we inherit /we are heirs of Eternal life.
John 14:6 & 11:25 Jesus said he is “The Life”. Therefore when we inherit Life, we are receiving him. We are heirs of God i.e. we inherit God:
Galatians 4:7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
I know you all may already know this, but here is what was shown to me by the Spirit that I’ve never seen before: We inherit God, but God also inherits us.
Psalm 94:14 For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
What is his inheritance?
I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. [8] Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Psalm 2:7-8
God in Christ, inherits the heathen (worldly people). But who died for him to inherit world people? The world in the people died in Christ.
Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
In/through the cross, God inherits us and we inherit him.
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. – Romans 8:17
