How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord ? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

Psalm 13:1 KJVS

Lets consider another question here; why God is hiding his face to begin with?

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Isaiah 59:2

Since sin is the reason his (God’s) face was|is hidden, does that then mean we have to stop sinning in order to see his face?

No! If, being free of sin was a requirement to see his face, none would see, because all have sinned come short of his glory (Rom 3:23).

Recommended Part 1/4: Can we see the face of God?

How then do we see his face?

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:6

When we get a revelation of Jesus Christ, then we see God’s face. Furthermore, it is only in seeing|knowing him are our sins cleansed. He reveals|revealed himself while we were yet sinners, THEN goes about the work of cleaning us up.

If like the psalmist, you also desire to see God’s face and you’re wondering how you can see his face, let’s consider the answer found in Luke 1:76. John the Baptist went before “the face of the Lord” (before Jesus) to prepare the way by preaching repentance.

And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

Luke 1:76 KJVS

Repentance is before the revelation of “the face of the Lord”.

Repentance —> Revelation of the Face of Lord (Jesus)—> Transformation of the one (us) who beholds him (Jesus)
