Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
1 Tim 6:1
Imagine what would have happened if Joseph disrespected the Pharaoh; imagine if he refused to show respect to the Pharaoh just because of the negative experiences he had in Egypt. Let’s remember some of these experiences: sold in slavery, imprisoned falsely on an attempted rape charge and probably beaten. If anyone had cause to be sour, it was Joseph.
But he understood that the purpose of God was being fulfilled. Had he disrespected Pharaoh, he would have brought shame to the name of God whom he represented.
The scriptures says to give honour where it’s due, and we honour God by being faithful in all things, including our jobs and showing the respect due to those authority at our place of work.
