Psalm 91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
What is the “snare of the fowler”? And how does God deliver us from it?
The snare is a trap/pitfall that the fowler (the devil) employs to bring us into bondage and/or keep us there. There are many ways he goes about trying to snare us, but all can be put into three principal categories:
- lust of the flesh,
- lust of the eyes and
- the pride of life (1 John 2:16).
When any of those three manifest, the Bible tells us what happens at James 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
The snare of sin led/leads us to death. But…Christ entered the very place the snare took us… death.. and delivers us:
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; [15] And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
