Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
Psalm 104:4 KJV
In the previous message on Psalm 104:4 titled Messengers of Fire we saw how we become sons of God, his messengers, his angels, when “he lays the beams of his chambers in the waters” (Psalm 104:3) i.e. when the Spirit of God makes his home in us (the waters). “His ministers” is also in reference to his angels i.e. all the sons of God. (Heb 1:14)
Now notice he said that he makes his ministers a flaming fire! What does this mean?
As his angels, we are ministering his Word to the lost. The lost are described as stubble (dry leaves) and his Word spoken by our mouths and our lives, is a fire, which makes our lives a fire:
And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.
Obadiah 1:18 KJV
Jesus came ministering the Word, to kindle this fire:
Luke 12:49 KJV
I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
Remember also what James tells us of the tongue:
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
James 3:6 KJV
That’s the tongue of a carnal man, but when the LORD makes his ministers a flame of fire that’s when our lives speak with the tongue of God, it will consume the nature of flesh, it will set the heart of the sinner ablaze with the fire of heaven, and this fire will refine their heart, even as their lives speak the Word and so will it spread, till the world is ablaze.
