And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.
Psalm 104:15 KJV
Here God continues from verse 14 to describe things “He causes”. He speaks of wine, oil and bread and the impact they have. Today, let’s examine bread.
The first mention of bread in scripture is:
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground;….
KJV Genesis 3:19
Here it was said to ‘the man’, in providing bread he would sweat till he dies. And naturally, man was required to works to ensure there was bread (food) on the table. But consider this: who is ‘the man’ who worked in spirit to provide us (the woman/bride) with bread? Who is ‘the man’ who sweat till he died to ensure there was bread on the table of God?
The only man recorded in scripture to sweat:
And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
KJV Luke 22:44
Remember scripture said that Christ was made a curse for us (Gal 3:13)… the curse of Adam to toil for bread, Christ (The last Adam) beared it. He toiled and sweat all the way to the cross and in so doing, he provided for his bride. As ‘the man’ he worked/sweat to put bread on the table.
For those who eat the bread ✝️, i.e. those who eat God’s word, our heart is strengthened by said word, as the psalmist said.
