He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. [9] He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
Psalm 103:7,9
Continuing with a look at God’s ways. He said he will not always chide/strive with us. But what is the reason for contention between us and him to begin with?
Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: ….
The contention comes because the flesh (man) and the Spirit (God) do not agree. And how can two walk together except they agree (Amos 3:3).
The flesh is why God strives with man, the flesh is why he is angry:
Genesis 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Psalm 7:11 …..God is angry with the wicked every day.
God showed us in the story of Noah how he will address the problem of flesh.
He saved 8 souls. Eight is a scriptural symbol for circumcision i.e. cutting of off flesh.
To end the contention between us and him, he has to circumcise our hearts (our fleshly desires, ways and thinking). And as he said to Abraham, (Gen 17:14) if you aren’t circumcised, you aren’t his sheep.
So how do you get circumcised? When you are crucified with Christ (Gal 2:20). Selah!
