Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: [4] Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Psalm 103:2,4
The LORD is the Redeemer, he saves us from destruction, from death. How does he do it 類?
I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance yshall be hid from mine eyes.
Hosea 13:14
Notice, he didn’t say “I will destroy death“, he said “O grave, I will be thy destruction“. There is a difference. He is where death dies, he is where death meets its end.
Consider it this way: If death is a virus, God himself is the cure. And because he is the cure, receiving him in us destroys the virus. Therefore, anyone who rejects him, is rejecting life and in so doing embracing death.
Proverbs 8:36 ….all they that hate me love death.
So the benefit of redemption and therefore, life, is not God giving us something, but it is him giving us himself, which he does in Jesus .
….but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Hebrews 9:26
