Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.
Psalm 104:35 KJV
“Sinful and wicked” has been the epithet of all mankind since the fall of Adam. Given God is being asked to consume sinners out of the earth and for the wicked to be no more, we have a problem ⚠️. How does God honour the words he led the psalmist to write and yet save us? Jesus is our answer!
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Matthew 3:11 KJV
To be baptized with the Holy Ghost means the consuming fire of God (Heb 12:29) has entered the earthen vessel. This is the fire Jesus came to bring:
I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
Luke 12:49 KJV
This fire will consume all the chaff (ungodliness) in our heart and in so doing, the sinner that once lived in your earthen vessel is destroyed, the wicked heart is no more. For in Christ, the old has passed away ☠️ and we have been made new. This is why the soul of the psalmist says “Bless & Praise the LORD”. For if you trust in Christ, rejoice, for God has destroyed/ is destroying the wicked. The wicked is you!
