O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
Psalm 104:24 KJV
The wisdom and power of God seen in creation is a foreshadowing of the work Jesus.
1 Corinthians 1:24 … Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
Recognizing Christ as the wisdom and power that created everything is one thing (Col 1:16), but how is creation foreshadowing his work?
Consider, in creation, the earth was void and without form until the Spirit of God entered. As he entered, the first thing he did was speak light and then separated it from darkness. From that point on, God filled the earth with his riches, as the psalmist said. This foreshadows the work Christ does in the earthy man. He brings light where their was darkness:
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6 KJV
Notice here, he takes us back to Genesis 1:2-3 by saying: “for God who commanded light to shine out of darkness” and goes on to show that God is doing the same thing he did in the earth at creation but now, he’s doing it in the earthen vessel at the time of the new creation i.e. new creature in Christ. Then verse 7 says:
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”
The psalmist said the earth was filled with “riches”, Paul is saying we have “treasure” in earthen vessels. The earth was filled with riches because of God’s wisdom and power, the earthen man is filled with treasure because of Christ ✝️ who is God’s wisdom and power.
Let’s recognize that the treasure/riches comes only when God is in us 🌍, working and speaking even as he did at creation and the blood of ✝️ make this possible. Selah!
