Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
Psalm 104:4 KJV
Whenever we read of angels, often, our minds immediately imagines a being of heavenly orientation, and this is certainly true. But consider this: There are two kingdoms: light and darkness, and everyone alive today is a messenger i.e. angel, of one of the two kingdoms.
Before coming to Christ, we were messengers/angels of darkness and earthy in orientation, but when we came to him, what the psalmist said comes to past: he maketh his angels spirit. In other words:
He claims us as his own, we are now his angels, his messengers, sons of God and we are transformed to be conformed to his nature i.e. spirit. The earthy orientation is past, for we have been made new made heavenly.
Take a look at verse 3 of the psalm, there he told us how “he lays the beams of his chambers in the waters” i.e. he makes his home in his people (the waters).
Making his angels spirit is only possible when verse 3 comes to past i.e. It’s only when he dwells in us (and we in him) are we in Spirit, are we sons of God and thus angels/messengers for the kingdom of light.
