Psalm 103:11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
God’s comparison of the height of heaven and the lowness of earth in illustrating his mercy towards us, is intentional.
Heaven and earth are being used as a pictograph of Christ (Heaven) and us (Earth).

Consider this:
When we stand proud (as a peacock) in our sins, when we refuse to repent from our earthy ways, our earthy thoughts, Heaven and all its glory remains out of our reach. i.e. the mind of heaven, the mercy of heaven, the life of heaven, the treasures of heaven etc, are all out of reach of the earthy man. We will remain firmly planted in the earth.
However, for those who humble themselves and repent, the mercy they have received via the blood of the Christ, transports them from the world to heaven.
Christ is the key that unlocks heaven and all its benefits.
Those under his mercy via his blood, receive the mind of heaven, the thoughts of heaven, the treasures of heaven, which are all been unlocked to us
Heaven, which was far out of reach from (earthy) man, is now attainable through Christ.
